Reminder to anyone thinking they aren't making progress because the scales haven't gone down as much as they had hoped.
1) The scales measure weight not body fat loss.
Short term fluctuations on the scales do not measure body composition.
If you're in a deficit you will be losing fat… it just might not be showing on the scales.. yet.
2) Fitness is way more important than body fat when it comes to health. If you've started walking more and exercising more - you're having a bigger impact on your health than weight loss alone.
3) Strength is way more important than body fat too. Strength is independently correlated to a reduced risk of death from all causes. The stronger you are.. the longer you're likely to live!
If you started the morning routine and you're improving your press ups then you're making progress.
4) Speaking of press ups.. research shows that men (unfortunately not done on women) who were able to complete 40 press ups had a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular disease than those who could do 10 or less.
- I would imagine a good translation is working towards 40 press ups from knees for women.
5) Increasing your step count - especially if it started on the lower end has a HUGE benefit to your health.
Take the pressure off only measuring progress on the scales.
Ironically when you do this you will also likely achieve more weight loss too as you stop constantly questioning yourself and self sabotaging when the scales fluctuate.
