The truth is most people don’t care about their health enough to use it as motivation.
This isn’t a dig. It’s not my primary motivation to exercise and eat well either.
- it’s a nice by product but if you want to stay motivated you need to tie your goal to something you actually care about in the moment.
E.g. I care about building my businesses, I care about giving my clients the best service possible and I care about helping as many incredible coaches as possible build their businesses too - I know that doesn’t happen when I don’t show up at my best and I know that to do that and give myself a chance of delivering the quality of service I want to I need to have a solid routine including my diet, exercise and sleep habits.
Many of my clients are driven by similar - showing up in their career or showing up at their best as a mother, sister, friend, partner.
Stop telling yourself you ‘should’ be motivated enough by health to do XYZ.
If you’re more motivated by looking smoking in a bikini on your next holiday that’s fine! Don’t shame yourself for it or call yourself vain.
It’s very hard to connect to your future self.
We have decades of psychological research showing this.
Your future self will be happy you were so consistent because you leant into the things that actually motivate you.
