Life isn’t fair…
& it might not be your fault, but you can choose to take resposibility.
It might seem kind & comforting to tell someone it’s not their fault…
to emphasise that obesity has genetic and socioeconomic contributors (true!).
or that some people were born into wealth and opportunities (also true)
..But often what we inadvertently do is take away agency, their sense of control, the belief that they have the power to change.
Taking away someone’s belief that change is possible despite these factors (which it is) can be very demotivating despite initial best intentions.
The truth is - your current situation may not be your fault but it is your responsibility to change it. IF you decide to.
You get one life & it’s up to you…
Would you rather embrace the power you have to change or sit powerless and accept where you are?
