Misinformation Is More Profitable
- why there is so much bullsh*t women's health advice.
The uncomfortable truth is that a lot of inaccurate women’s health messaging exists because it sells.
Sometimes it sells supplements.
Sometimes it sells books or programmes.
Sometimes it sells coaching.
Sometimes it simply sells attention.
And attention is extremely valuable.
Influencers can earn tens or hundreds of thousands through brand deals.
Even when a post is not directly selling a product, clickbait, emotionally charged, surprising and extreme content performs well. Views turn into followers. Followers turn into money. This is a huge industry.
I don’t believe most people posting online are malicious. I don’t think they are intentionally trying to confuse women or worsen women’s health.
I think many are simply more focused on what performs well on social media, without considering the impact of spreading misinformation. And that impact is real. Women spend years confused, overwhelmed, and stuck.
I know, because I get messages to this effect numerous times a day.
This has a physical as well as psychological impact.
Body fat increases. Health declines. Quality of life suffers.
Women are left feeling like they’ve failed and become disengaged in healthy behaviours because it all seems too confusing.
This is not just about wasted money. It is about lost years of healthy life.
It’s why I spend my life helping women get lean, fit and healthy without the confusion. And why I spend so much time debunking BS claims online.
