Don’t have time to exercise?
Don’t have time to get all the work you have piling up done?
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could solve both problems.. no, I haven’t invented Bernard’s watch (yet)… but I do have a solution.
This study found that exercise during working hours actually saves you time by making you more productive.
30mins of exercise at lunch time has been shown to increase productivity by 15%.
You return to work refreshed & focused.
Time ‘lost’ through exercise is made back in increased productivity post exercise. In fact, you actually save time by taking time off to exercise!
I mean this quite literally. The 30 minutes you took off at lunch time to exercise is more than made back in increased productivity after lunch.
Employees reported that their time management, mental performance and ability to meet deadlines increased on the days they exercise.
People who exercised at lunch time experienced higher productivity after lunch, less energy dip post lunch (typical 3pm slump) & reported being in a better mood.
& we all know how contagious someone’s mood can be.
Here is some more evidence that exercise has a profound and immediate effect on your performance at work.
This experiment tested the impact of just 15 minutes of moderate intensity cycling and found participants had increased creativity, quicker learning, sharper memory & improved concentration.
There are also incredible health benefits to exercise.
People who exercise at least 2.5 hours a week have reduced sick days. This is even more profound for the prevention of long term conditions such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes which often lead to ongoing and frequent time off work.
The benefit of using paid work time to allow your employees to exercise outweighs the cost by a mile.
If you want to support your employees productivity, creativity, happiness and health then giving them time to exercise may be the solution.
