Struggling to get steps in during the winter?
This tip will BLOW YOUR MIND (lol, it won’t but it’s useful nonetheless)
Do another other form of activity that will results in energy expenditure.
Add in some cardio.
There is nothing magic about steps.
It’s just an easy way to measure energy expenditure.
If it’s cold, dark (HOW IS IT DARK AT 4pm now!!??) & wet, if you feel unsafe at night, if you have young kids at home you can’t leave or even if you would just prefer to do other forms of cardio…
That’s not a problem.
There is an easy solution.
It’s just slightly harder to track consistently.
But this is my simple method…
Start with just total time.
Here is a crude measure for cycling…
Moderate intensity cycling (to the point you are slightly out of breath but could just about hold a conversation or sing along to Taylor swift) for 1 hour will equate to around 10,000 steps.
Lower intensity & you’ll have to cycle for longer,
higher intensity and you’ll have to cycle for less time for the 10,000 steps equivalent.
Hope this is useful… Stay safe, warm and dry!
