Actually, you can have it all.
Society creates this illusion that you can’t but you absolutely can. It’s harder - thats why most people don’t.
You can enjoy christmas, make memories, eat nice food, not miss out, not feel over restricted and still lose fat over the holidays, or maintain your body composition or at least minimise weight gain - whatever your goal is - I am not here to tell you that.
This is for the people who do want to have it all and who do want to maintain or improve their body composition and who don’t want to be the average & fall into the trend of weight gain over the festive period.
So if you’re ‘fuk average’ vibes and you want to have it all..
Here is how.
HIA (have it all) formula
1) You have a limiting belief we need to change first. That belief is that you can either enjoy yourself or stay on track with your diet.
Most people hold this belief whether they are conscious of it or not. So first things first - that needs to go.
2) Make a plan - you likely only have 5 or so events/ big days over the festive period- work night out, friend night out, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New years day.
That is 5 or so bigger meals over 6ish weeks - dont use it as an excuse to keep overeating from your first christmas night out at the start of December all the way to January.
3) Overeating is not enjoyable - you will enjoy christmas MORE when you dont overeat . You tend to feel physically quite sick and lethargic with the amount of rich food consumed at christmas.
Choose your indulgences and enjoy them in moderation.
4) See it as a test - you can have half a mince pie, you can have 3 roast potatoes instead of 10.
You can eat slowly and mindfully and decide not to pick before dinner.
& when you do this note down how you feel after… I mean this literally - do 5mins of journalling after your christmas dinner, give yourself some credit, note how much more you enjoyed your meal, how much more present you were, how much better you feel not absolutely stuffed.
We seem to glorify overeating at christmas because that is what everyone does.
(if you don’t want avergae results - don’t act like the average person)
5) Accept that its going to be harder, it is going to require a little bit of discipline. Reminder: You’re doing it because you want to. No one is forcing you. It’s an empowered choice not a prison sentence. It’s your life, you get to choose.
Don’t fall into a victim mindset and start to feel sorry for yourself because you tell this story to yourself you’re missing out. You’re not missing out on anything by eating a little less.
6) Exercise and movement. You will feel a hell of a lot better if you do a short workout on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
It doesnt have to be long, you dont need to go to the gym it could be a 10 press-ups and 10 squats 4x.
Trust me it will make a huge difference to your mindset. And if you can, drag the family out for a Christmas Day walk too!
I want you to go in with intent that this year will be different. A lot of people fall into ‘christmas mode’ as soon as December starts.
