We have 100s of women starting the EC method this week.
I wanted to share some of our mindset principles that will help you achieve successful fat loss & put an end to yo-yo dieting.
- Empowered choices NOT restriction.
The intent behind your actions matter. In my opinion this is the most influential & underrated aspect of dieting.
You can tell yourself you CAN’T have X because you’re on a diet or you can tell yourself you are choosing not to because it doesn’t align with your current goals.
The 1st feels like restriction, the 2nd feels like an empowered choice you can be proud of. The action looks the same.
- You are worthy as you are (change from a place of love)
If you have a fat loss goal remember that fat is just a store of energy. It’s not who you are & it’s probably the least interesting thing about you but if you are storing a little too much energy at the moment and you want to lose some then you’re in the right place!
Looking after your health is the highest form of self care. Do it because you love yourself, not because you hate yourself.
- You are absolutely capable - this time will be different.
If you’ve tried numerous diets before you are probably coming into this thinking it’s just going to be like the last X times.
It’s not, this is different, this time you are going to commit to it even if it takes longer than you thought or there are (inevitable) slip ups on the way.
Our only hard rule is you reach out if you need help.
- Don’t get upset about the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t do.
This one might sound a bit like tough love and that is because it is. The only way you get anywhere impressive in life is by taking ownership. No one owes you anything and things won’t just fall at your feet. It takes hard work to reach your goals. Lean into that.
You will get out what you put in.
- Balance is a skill.
A lot of people come to us with an ‘all or nothing’ mentality assuming that they can’t change that about themselves and they will always be that way. This is not the case. Balance is a skill. Much like how you learn to do your first press up. Balance takes practice. It’s a skill to enjoy 1 biscuit and then get on with your day and not eat the whole packet. Like any other skill it takes practice.
- Compromises not sacrifices.
Successful long term fat loss is about compromise not sacrifice. Much like successful long term relationships. If you feel you are making sacrifices you will resent the diet/ partner. If you make compromises you won’t.
Example: have half the pizza and a side salad. Half the calories for 99% of the enjoyment.
Choose your indulgences & enjoy them and remember that having something less often usually increases the enjoyment of it!
- The aim isn’t 8 weeks of fat loss.
Let’s be real you’ve done that before.
The EC method is about life long change. Take the pressure off nailing it all the first week. This is usually what trips people up. You have the rest of your life to be getting this right.
We built the EC method to put an end to yo-yo dieting & be the last diet you ever need.
@TheECmethod
Great advice and excellent timing. 4 months wasted this year not taking action, not sure why, fear of failure probably. And this was the year I really wanted it the most! Anyway, need to save this to revisit regularly. Thanks as always
