“When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure.”
-Goodharts Law
This is an economic principle but boy does it translate...
You don't want to lose weight; you want the health benefits & most likely how you think you will feel, look, perform & show up when you lose weight.
Often we get so fixated on that weight that we don't realise we’ve already achieve the outcome we wanted. You don't want more money, you want the freedom of what you could do if you had more money.
Often we get so fixated on making more money we don't realise it's actually started reducing our freedom. You don't want to hit a certain number on myfitnesspal; you want fat loss.
Sure- you need to be in a deficit to lose fat but you don't need to track calories to be in a deficit.
Make sure you are not so fixated on metrics that you lose sight of the outcome you are actually working towards.
