I’m pretty heavily dyslexic (lol that I just struggled to spell that)
I wasn’t good at English at school
To this day I have never managed to finish reading a physical book.
I always thought I was a little dumb & convinced myself I wasn’t missing out on much.
Turns out I was missing out on a lot but I wasn’t going to consume the information in the way most people do.
Since I discovered audible I absolutely love ‘reading’ / listening to books.
You can assume that any time I’ve said I read a book what I actually mean is I listened to it.
I also absolutely love writing now. It’s one of my favourite things to do. I set aside an hour most days to write & I write for pleasure on weekends.
I am telling you this because a lot of people convince themselves they don’t enjoy something because of the way it’s being taught to them.
I didn’t like writing about books I couldn’t read at school (SHOCK). But I love writing about things I actually find interesting & I love listening to books.
You may have convinced yourself you hate exercise when in reality you might just not like lifting weights in that kind of gross gym full of teenagers. You might find you enjoy a different type of exercise in a different environment.
Or you might have convinced yourself you don’t like fruit when in reality you don’t like those crappy apples you bought once from lidl that were already going off.
Everyone is different. It may take you a while to find what works for you but you certainly wont find it if you don’t explore your options and try new things.
That’s all for today!
