You can go over your calories every day and still lose fat.
This is a really important realisation:
You can go over your calories every day and still lose fat.
Everything between your target fat loss calories and your maintenance calories is still a deficit & thus you will still lose fat.
One common issue with calorie targets it that people think if they go over their calories they’ve messed it up and they won’t lose fat.
That is not how it works.
In fact, you can go over your calories every single day and still lose fat.
Sounds PURE MAD EH… but let me explain.
If your maintenance calories are 2,000 and you’ve been set fat loss calories of 1600 then you’re in a 400 calorie deficit.
Often we think we’ve ruined it if we eat 1800 calories so we think ‘oh screw it may as well continue eating & start again tomorrow’
Energy balance doesn’t work on a 24h clock.
It doesn’t reset at midnight - this is why we focus on averages over the week.
If you consume 1800 every day so you’ve gone over calories by 200 calories a day you will still lose fat.
It will be slower as you’re in a smaller deficit (200 calories now as opposed to 400) but you are still in a deficit so you will still lose fat.
